We have been advised by NHS safeguarding partners of concerns about some social media content that may encourage self-harm, particularly affecting vulnerable children and young people.
Parents and carers are reminded to:
- Monitor online activity and social media use
- Talk regularly with children about what they see online
- Report and block concerning content
- Seek help promptly if worried about a child’s wellbeing
Trusted advice on keeping children safe online is available via NSPCC, Barnardo’s, The Children’s Commissioner, and GOV.UK.
If you are concerned about a child’s safety, please speak to a healthcare professional or local safeguarding services.
